Description and Purpose of the Project

This video montage project will focus on survivors/service providers/community members, who openly share their experiences and thoughts about sexual violence. The purpose of the project is to break the silence around sexual and gender-based violence, while raising community awareness and examining potential prevention and healing strategies.

The project aims to discuss the landscapes of our current legal/medical/support systems. Most importantly, the goal is to encourage other survivors to feel more comfortable in coming forward, while empowering them to rebuild their lives with honesty, dignity, humour and vulnerability.

The project team will be weaving together video interviews, photographs, voice recordings and quotes to be incorporated into a final video montage that will be available on Sexual Assault Centre Kingtonā€™s website. Participants will be free to chat about anything related to sexual violence or to answer optional questions from an interviewee.

Chat with us about strategies to ensure confidentiality (image and audio masking, pseudonyms and other techniques), while sharing your experiences and thoughts.

The recording space will have at least one trained support person available for debriefing, if needed. In addition, a list of local resources will be provided to each participant.
